Renault KWID: High on features, easy on pocket
For the last so many years, it was thought that an entry-level car buyer just cares for two things. First, the buyer would look for a price that is really easy on the pocket and next, if the car can have some comfort and safety features built-in, then it would be great. These expectations were thought to be in that order with the price commanding the lions share while the latter was always good to have.
This belief continued to remain true until the Renault KWID was
launched in 2015. The phenomenal response to the car proved that this belief
was in desperate need of a total overhaul. While these were indeed the two most
important things, their order and level were very different.
The real expectation of an entry-level car buyer was to have a
car that is not only comfortable and safe but also pocket-friendly. Since this
was a seller’s market, the availability of products created this misconception
about an entry-level car buyer.
The Renault KWID not only understood the latent demand of
entry-level car owners but also fuelled their expectations further. Immediately
after the launch of the car, it became clear that while the segment is very
price-sensitive, customers still valued the comfort, convenience, and safety of
a car as much or probably more than the price.
So, what exactly did the car offer its customers that brought
their real expectations to the fore?
Exterior:
The first noticeable feature of the car was its SUV inspired
look. Today, the new generation KWID retains the same spirit and has a more
pronounced grille and boomerang-shaped roof. Also, the new KWID comes with
silver streak LED DRLs, SUV styled headlamps, tail lamp with LED light guides,
muscular multi-spoke wheels, and a ground clearance of 184 mm that makes the
car glide over Indian roads.
Interiors:
Ergonomically designed cabin, comfortable seats, plush
upholstery, stylish dashboard, and a touchscreen create a new standard in this
category.
Comfort
Large boot space (279 liters, expandable up to 620 liters),
well-appointed storage spaces to carry all life essentials, power windows,
manual as well as an AMT version, 2 engine options (0.8L & 1L), BS6
compliant engine, etc. provide comfort to the driver as well as the passengers
inside.
Safety
The KWID was amongst the first in its class to offer driver-side
airbags, ABS, EBD, alerts for seat-belt and over-speed, reverse parking camera,
etc. as standard. Customers can also upgrade to add passenger side airbags as
well for enhanced safety.
Technology
The car comes with an on-board computer that diligently monitors
the fuel consumption, average car speed, and distance to empty, thus keeping
the driver informed. The LED instrument cluster is clear and precise making
navigation easy. Also, the car features a reverse parking camera with
guidelines that makes parking in tight spots a breeze.
Price
The car also scores perfect on this final criterion in decision
making. With a starting price of just Rs. 2.94 Lacs (ex. Showroom Delhi), the Renault
KWID fulfils and sometimes exceeds the customer expectations on most
counts.
Now with the next generation KWID, the car promises a much
better experience, comfort, convenience, and safety to its passengers. To
experience what’s new, customers simply need to visit their nearest Renault
showroom or book their test-drive online from the comfort of their homes.
No matter what mode you choose to test-drive the car, the new Renault
KWID is here to win hearts and minds.
